One of the most decorated track and field athletes to ever wear a Western Illinois uniform, Dubois McDavis earned All Mid-Continent Conference honors an incredible seven times combined between the Indoor and Outdoor seasons.

Nearly 30 years after competing, McDavis still ranks tied for fourth all-time in Summit League (former Mid-Continent Conference) history with six Outdoor individual titles. He’s also tied for fifth all-time in Summit League history winning five Indoor individual titles.

A two-time Illinois High School state champion (triple jump, mile relay), McDavis was a top-three finisher at high school state in four events in all before joining the Leathernecks.

During the 1984 Mid-Con Indoor championships, McDavis was named ‘Athlete of the Year’ after capturing the triple jump title and helping the 4x400 relay take first place. At the Outdoor championships he won the long jump and was on the title winning 4x100 relay.

He repeated winning both titles at the 1985 Indoor meet. During the Outdoor championships, McDavis won the 4x100 and 4x400 relay in addition to the triple jump.

The only time he did not earn All-Mid Con honors was during the 1986 Indoor championships. He again played a key role at the Outdoor meet winning both the long jump and triple jump in ’86.

While completing his senior year, McDavis won the Indoor 60-yard dash, long jump and triple jump. His year culminated by winning the Outdoor long jump and triple jump.

Entering into the 2014-15 track and field season, McDavis still owns records in: Indoor long jump (25-5.25 feet) and Outdoor triple jump (52-0.50). His times and distances place him 11 times on eight different events among the career ‘Top 10’ leaders.

He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in 1988, and currently resides in Tacoma, Washington.

For the last seven years, he has worked as a supplier quality engineer with Dynacraft/Paccar, and 25 years with Paccar in various positions. McDavis is involved with the St. John Transformation Ministries as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and church finance group. McDavis participated in the inaugural 24-hour volleyball fund-raiser in 1983 to support community special needs facility for children.
