Kathi Clayton, 2004 - Longtime Macomb resident and business woman Kathi Clayton has contributed her time, expertise and financial assistance to Western Illinois Athletics as a member of the Purple and Gold Auction Committee and a VIP member of the Western Athletic Club (now Leatherneck Club).
A 1971 and 1977 graduate of Western Illinois, Clayton opened Kathi’s Florist and Greenhouse in 1982, which she owned and operated for 20 years. She is currently the Gift Shop Manager at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Ill.
A charter member of the McDonough District Hospital Development Council, she also served two terms as President of the Macomb Beautiful Association and was co-chair of the McDonough County United Way. Clayton was a 13-year member of the Macomb Rotary Club, Past-President and Paul Harris Fellow. She was involved with the Macomb Area Industrial Development (MAIDCO) Board of Director for the Chamber of Commerce and served as the Chairman of the Board for the Chamber prior to her relocation to Rockford. The recipient of the 2000 Macomb’s Outstanding Service Award, she was honored as the 2001 Macomb Journal Business Woman of the Year. During the 2000-01 school year she served as a co-chair for the WAC’s annual Purple and Gold Gala.
