Edgerton Hartwell – football (1998-2000)
Hartwell was a two-time Gateway Conference Defensive Player of the Year (1999, 2000) and the 2000 Buck Buchanan Award Winner, given to the best defensive player in FCS Football. He was a two-time All-Conference Defensive First Teamer and a member of the Gateway Conference All Newcomer Team (1998).
He holds the program record for most solo tackles in a game (18 vs. Missouri State, Oct. 9. 1999), the top two spots for solo tackles in a season (122 in 2000, 107 in 199) and is the program leader for total tackles in a season (191 in 2000).
He is also the program leader for career tackles (512) and second in program history in career solo tackles (308) and assisted tackles (204).
Also among his national awards, in 2000 Hartwell was named Associated Press First Team, AFCA First Team, Football Gazette Linebacker of the Year, a member of the Football Gazette First Team, a Walter Camp First Teamer and a member The Sports Network First Team.
He played for the Baltimore Ravens from 2001-2004 and the Atlanta Falcons from 2005-2006.
