Jim Sackett, 1997 - WIU's head track and field coach from 1969-80 and assumed the head coaching duties of the cross country program in 1971. He coached five Division II national champions, 53 track and field All-Americans and five cross country All-Americans. His 1978 teams finished third in the NCAA track and field championships and his 1972 cross country team finished fifth in the nation. His teams won three Drake Relay titles, won the Mid-Continent Conference title and broke all of the school's indoor and outdoor track records during his tenure.
