John MacKenzie, 2000 - MacKenzie served as WIU's head soccer coach for 29 years (1968-96) and coached seven All-Americans, two professional soccer players and four Academic All-Americans. MacKenzie led the Leathernecks to NCAA Division II Tournament berths from 1971-79 and capped his illustrious WIU career by being named the Mid-Continent Conference and NSCAA Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 1995, a year in which he was also the recipient of the Bill Jeffrey Award for soccer excellence.
MacKenzie was also named the NSCAA's Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 1986 and 1988.
