Ramsey Van Horn, 1992 - Considered to be one of the Leathernecks' all-time leading distance swimmers, Ramsey held five Western swimming records following his collegiate career and two relays... still ranks in the 'Top 10' in the 1,000 free... earned four NCAA All-American accolades during his career... 1970 IIAC 'Most Valuable Swimmer'... three-time team captain... finished his four years with a 78-2 career record in individual dual meet competition... 10-time individual event All-American and six-time relay All-American... scored 117 individual points at the NCAA National competition, finished national runner-up on five occasions and took third place on three occasions... three times qualified for the NCAA Division I championships (500 & 1,650 freestyle), placing 13th in the 1650 at the 1971 championship meet... 1972 Olympic Trial qualifier in the 1,500 free... twice selected as an Outstanding Collegiate Athlete of America... three-time Big 8 Conference Swimming 'Coach of the Year' at Iowa State University... twice served as Student Representative to the Athletic Advisory Council.
