The Western Illinois Athletic Department facilitates a student fan group known as 'Purple Platoon'.
The group is open to all Western Illinois University students and membership is free. Purple Platoon will receive various incentives, such as specialty seating at sporting events, free t-shirts, free prizes and other giveaways, pre and post-game socials with Leatherneck teams and coaches, and text message updates and alerts.
Current Western Illinois students with a valid University ID receive free admission to all sporting events.
