TOPEKA, KS. - The Leatherneck Track and Field team continues their run at the Ichabod Invitational earning multiple podium finishes and breaking several school records.
Garrison Murray got things started for the Leathernecks in the High Jump. Murray jumped an impressive 1.89 meters landing the sophomore ninth overall in the event. Rayvon Wright followed right behind with a jump of 1.89 meters landing himself 12th overall in the event.Â
During the Men's Long Jump, Toriano Tate was all business as he finished third overall in the event with a leap of 7.26 meters making him the 10th all time for the school record. Cage Davidson jumped himself into the 15th overall spot with a leap of 6.90 meters.
During the Open Pole Vault, Angel Stanley stood tall earning herself the top spot with a vault of 3.34 meters. During the Pole Vault invite, the Leathernecks showed out. Leading the way was Emma Ponx who not only took third place, but also jumped her way to the top of the school record book for the third time this season. Ponx had a vault of 3.94 meters. Dana Surwillo took home the number eight spot for the event with a vault of 3.64 meters.Â
Bria Armstrong and Nakeita Kessling both finished top 10 in the Triple Jump event. Armstrong finished eighth overall with a jump of 11.28 meters. Kessling was not far behind recording a jump of 11.27 meters landing her at the ninth overall spot.Â
During the track events, Richard Brown held it down during the 800 meter race. Brown finished with a time of 1:53.94 securing him the fourth overall spot for the event.Â
The Leathernecks head to Indianapolis for the OVC Conference Tournament on February 24-26.Â
