WIU Track and Field Shines at Kip Janvrin Invite

INDIANOLA, IA. – The Western Illinois Track and Field team delivered a strong showing at the Kip Janvrin Invitational, highlighted by standout performances across both track and field events.

Robert Perry led the charge for the Leathernecks, placing second in the 5000-meter run with an impressive time of 14:41.65. His performance not only secured him a spot on the podium but also earned him the title of school record holder in the outdoor 5000-meter event.

In the 800-meter run, Sean Hudspath claimed eighth place while setting a new personal best of 1:54.25. Nakeita Kessling secured fifth place in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 58.66. Bria Armstrong also made her mark, taking sixth place in the 100-meter hurdles.

In field events, Garrison Murray placed eighth in the high jump with a leap of 1.81 meters.

Brooke Boehm had an exceptional day, reaching the podium in two events. She tied for third in the high jump alongside teammate Mia Harris, both clearing 1.55 meters. Boehm then took it a step further by dominating the long jump with a winning mark of 5.47 meters.

Colleen Johnson stole the show for the pole vaulters, taking home first place with her vault of 3.52 meters. Angel Stanley secured fifth place with a vault of 3.37 meters.

The Leathernecks are set to travel to Northern Illinois University for the Huskie Classic on May 3.
