  • Freshman Nick Mitchell was back in the lineup Tuesday and contributed big time in his return. Mitchell went 3-4 for his second three-hit game of the season. The Carmel, Ind., native is now batting .438 this season, the second-highest batting average in the Summit League.
  • Infielder Kory Olsen was back producing hits in Tuesday's loss, ending the game 2-3 with a run scored. Olsen has produced at least two hits in five of the 11 games this season and is 10th in the Summit League in batting average at .364.
  • Caden Kratz continues to be a major contributor in the bullpen after a dominant showing against the Billikens. Kratz pitched three innings, allowed no runs, no hits, and struck out four of the 12 batters he faced. He's allowing just a .056 batting average in his eight innings this season.
  • Manager Andy Pascoe returns to Butler this weekend after serving as an assistant coach with the Bulldogs for three seasons (2016-19).
  • WIU's small-ball philosophy is present in their sacrifice numbers this season. Kory Olsen and Jack Sievers are t-first in the Summit League in sac bunts with three this season. The Leathernecks rank second in the conference in sac bunts, and t-second in sacrifice flies with three.
