LOOKING AHEAD: Western is currently tied for fourth in the Summit League as the top four teams advance to the Tournament... The Leathernecks are just one game out of third place and one ahead of sixth place... If Western wins 2-of-3 at Fort Wayne, the Leathernecks will clinch a berth in next week's tournament... If all three games are not played, various tie-breaker scenarios come into play.

TOURNAMENT SCENARIO: With the top four teams advancing to next week's Summit League Tournament in Tulsa, Western Illinois currently sits in a tie for fourth place at 11-16… The Leathernecks are tied with Fort Wayne, and just one game behind South Dakota State and one ahead of North Dakota State… Western must win 2-of-3 this weekend in Fort Wayne to clinch a postseason berth… Depending on the outcome of both series, Western could move into the third-seed.

CURRIER HITS 15: Junior Conner Currier extended his hitting streak to 15 games following the Omaha series… Currier improved his overall batting average to .322, now 10th in the Summit League, with a .417 on-base percentage.

WESTFAHL HITS TOP 5: Junior Nate Westfahl moved into a five-way tie for third place on the season 'Top 10' when he recorded his fifth save on the year with the series opener against Omaha… He also created an eight-way tie for fourth place all-time with his fifth save as a Leatherneck.

TEAM NOTES:
• Two pitchers - Joe Mortillaro and Ian Koch - have earned a Pitcher of the Week award this year.

• Western's six players with two triples are all tied for fifth place in the Summit League.

• The Leathernecks have started seven different pitchers during a weekend series this year... Two of the opening weekend starters have missed most of the season with an injury - Jr/LHP Preston Church and Soph/LHP JT Baksha.

• Steve McShane and Cord Church share the team lead and rank 10th in the Summit League in stolen bases... McShane is 9-of-13, and thanks to five steals in the last four games, Church jumped to 9-of-11 on the season... Roman Visintine is right behind at 8-for-11.

• Conner Currier and Chris Tschida are the top two on the team in walks with 24. Mark Garton is right behind with 23.

TRIPLE THREAT: Western knocked another triple on the year, a pinch-hit triple from Nathan Pollock at Iowa... The Leathernecks have as nearly as many triples (15) as home runs (18) this year... Pollock moved into a six-way tie for the team lead with Roman Visintine, Chris Tschida, Conner Currier, Drue Galassi and Steve McShane.

SCOUTING THE MASTDONS: Fort Wayne is coming off a weekday win over Purdue... The Mastodons have won 10-of-15 Summit League games since meeting Western Illinois last month in Macomb... Brandon Soat leads the team with a .327 average, followed by Greg Kaiser at a .302 clip with 18 doubles and 14 home runs... Shane Trevino has hit 11 homers... Trevor Storie has a 6-5 record, leading the team in wins... Jake Weber is 3-4 with a 4.83 ERA but picked up nine saves.
