MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois Baseball team held their Annual Golf outing in honor of Devin VanBrooker on October 10th, seeing 22 teams and 88 total players participate.
The outing started with speeches from the VanBrooker family, head coach Terry Davis, acting administrator in charge Jeremy Robinett, as well as alumni Connie Kowal, who also works with WIU Baseball Alumni Connection and WIU Baseball Alumni Reunion Weekends.
The teams then headed into a 4-person scramble round that had a shotgun start at 12pm. Players were able to purchase mulligans before the outing began, and were able to purchase other games during the round to help with their score.
Each hole had 13-20 hole sponsors as well, showing that the alumni base, community, and friends and families of the program are very excited for the team, and wanting to show their support for Leatherneck baseball.
After the outing concluded, all of the players were invited to a dinner at coach Terry Davis' house, where he revealed the winners of the scramble, the longest drive champion, the longest putt champion, and the team with the worst overall score.
WIU Baseball is proud to announce that this event grossed over $35,000 for the program and will directly benefit the team, staff, and most importantly its student-athletes!
