MACOMB, Ill. – The Fighting Leatherneck women's soccer team will wrap up a three-match home series on Sunday, September 6, when they take on the Broncos of Western Michigan at 1 p.m. in Macomb. On Tuesday, September 8, WIU will face the Northern Iowa Panthers in the first of four road matches, beginning at 7 p.m in Waterloo.
-To watch a video preview of this weekend's match, click HERE.  A LOOK AT THE BRONCOS: Western Michigan has garnered a 2-1-0 record so far this season, with shutout wins against Fort Wayne and Illinois-Chicago. The Broncos return two of their top three scorers from last season in Emma Kahn and Liz Abro. Sophomore goalkeeper Stephanie Heber has made six saves and only allowed two goals in 2015. Western Michigan will play 4-0 Notre Dame on Friday, September 4, prior to Sunday's match. WMU finished 2014 with a 13-8-1 overall record and have been led by head coach Nate Norman since 2012.  SERIES HISTORY: The Leathernecks and Broncos have faced off one time in program history. In 2013, Western Illinois fell 4-0 in Kalamazoo.  A LOOK AT THE PANTHERS: Northern Iowa has posted a 2-1-2 record so far this season, with wins against Green Bay and Eastern Illinois. The Panthers have played to overtime in four of their five contests this season. Northern Iowa is led offensively by senior forward Annie Dale who has scored four goals so far in 2015, including one game winner against Green Bay. Junior Whitney Blunt has led the way defensively for the Panthers in goal, she has made 14 saves while only allowing six goals. Last season, UNI compiled a 7-9-3 (2-3-1 MVC) overall record. The Panthers are led by head coach James Price who is beginning his seventh year at the helm of the program. Northern Iowa will play Summit League member IUPUI at home on September 5 before welcoming the Leathernecks to Waterloo the following Sunday.  SERIES HISTORY: The Panthers and Leathernecks have met 15 times since 2000, with Western leading the all-time series 8-4-3. Last season, WIU fell to Northern by a score to 2-0. In 2013, the two teams faced off twice with Western emerging victorious in both meetings by a score of 2-1 and 2-0.  LAST TIME OUT: On August 30, the Leathernecks fell to UMKC at home by a score of 2-0. Madeline Edwards led the squad with two dangerous shots on goal. Western's best chance to score in the second half came in the 78th minute when freshman Caitlin Rerucha broke through Kansas City's defense and made a 55-yard run before taking a shot on goal but couldn't find the back of the net. Victoria Kappel made five saves in the defeat. Â
