MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois cross country turned in a strong performance at the Huskie Classic, securing second place team finishes on both the men's and women's sides.
On the men's side, Robert Perry led the way with a third-place finish in the 6K (18:46.64), setting a new personal record. Logan Beckmier followed close behind in sixth (19:14.40, PR), while Brody Harker (13th, 20:12.69) and Evan Eberhart (14th, 20:21.27) helping push WIU into second overall.
The women also impressed in the 5K, led by Lydia Bennett, who ran a personal-best 18:46.30 to place sixth. Emma-Kate Watt finished 11th (19:10.8), with Deana Hudson (14th, 19:17.51) and Aylana Cezar (15th, 19:20.60) all finishing in the top 15 to secure the runner-up team spot.
The Leathernecks now look to carry this momentum into their next meet September 12 at Illinois State for the Redbird Invite.
