Arnie Grunert Advances to The NCAA National Championships With Second Place Finish At West Regional

COLLEGE STATION, TX- Arnie Grunert has punched his ticket to the NCAA National Championships for the second year in a row by placing second in the First Round of the NCAA West Regional with a vault of 5.42 meters. Grunert will be heading back to Eugene, Oregon where he placed 17th last year in the Pole Vault with a vault of 5.22 M. 

The Junior from Mokena, Illinois started off his evening by clearing 5.02 M on his first attempt of the event. He would follow that by faulting on his first attempt at 5.17 M but would clear his second attempt to move on to the next height. Similar to his previous vault, Grunert would fault on his first attempt at 5.32 M and would come back on his second attempt to get over the bar. He was one of 14 competitors to attempt the next height at 5.42 M and on his first attempt, he would clear the bar to advance to the National Championship round. 

Grunert's great season will continue at the NCAA National Championships which will be held on June 11-14 in Eugene, Oregon.
