MACOMB, Ill. - The Fighting Leatherneck women's golf team continues its fall schedule this coming Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 5-6) with Toledo's 2015 Rocket Classic. The event will take place at Catawba Island Club in Clinton, Ohio and is scheduled for 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.

WESTERN ILLINOIS WEEKEND LINEUP:
1. Allie Leingang
2. Allison Farrell
3. Alex Krehbiel
4. Anna Cullinan
5. Mariah Peters
IND Julie Whalen

A NOTE FROM COACH LIA BIEHL LUKKARINEN: "The team has been playing in the wind and rain this week in preparation for the Rocket Classic. Catawba Island Club is a challenging golf course with several island greens making distance control and playing in adverse conditions necessary skills to play well in Ohio. We have the top finishers from Ball State invite competing in: Allison Farrell, Allie Leingang and Alex Krehbiel, and Jess Schultz is unable to make the trip due to an ankle injury. Junior Anna Cullinan and Freshman Mariah Peters will round out the top five and senior Julie Whalen will compete for us as an individual. It's a fun and exciting event to be a part of and we are looking forward to competing again after an off week."

LAST TIME OUT: The Western Illinois women's golf team wrapped up action in Ball State's Cardinal Classic. The Fighting Leathernecks finished the two-day, three-round event, which took place at The Players Club, in 11th place with a score of 940 (318-309-313). Senior Allison Farrell and sophomore Allie Leingang each tied for 38th place with marks of 233 to lead WIU in the tournament. Farrell used scores of 75, 76 and 82, while Leingang recorded a 78, 77 and 78 during the three rounds. To view the complete release, click HERE.

FALL SCHEDULE: Western Illinois is slated to compete in four total events in four different states throughout the Midwest during their fall schedule... Here is what head coach Lia Biehl Lukkarinen had to say about the team's schedule... "We are excited to announce our 2015 fall schedule," said coach Lukkarinen. "We have played in three of the events in the past, so we will be familiar with the facilities. The fields in these events will be strong, and Ball State increased their competition to 54 holes this year compared to the 36 holes it was in the past. The Payne Stewart Memorial at Missouri State is a new tournament for us, so we are looking forward to participating at a new venue."

ABOUT THE COURSE (from CICClub.com): Catawba Island Club is a prestigious private club located on Lake Erie's Ohio Shore. Originally established in 1928 as The Catawba Cliffs Beach Club, Inc. as a family 'outdoors' club for the Catawba Cliffs community developed by the J.H. Bellows Company. The facility was purchased in the fall of 1967 by James Stouffer Sr., son of Stouffer Foods founder Vernon Stouffer, and reopened in the Spring of 1968 as Catawba Island Club. The Stouffer family has kept true to the original mission...'uniting the whole family instead of separating the family as a unit.
