MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois Women's Golf team starts their season at the Payne Stewart Invitational on Monday, Sep. 8, and Tuesday, Sep. 9. This is the first of four tournaments for the Women's golf team this fall.
Returning Names
Western Illinois returns three players from last year's squad. Cianna Law and Makayla Mussatto highlight the three returners. Law played in all five events last season. Mussatto played for the 2023-24 season, playing all ten tournaments. The final returner is Sophia Thorne. Thorne also played in all five events from the previous season, with her best finish being a tie for 34th at the OVC Championships.
New Faces
Libby Larkin comes to WIU from Waterloo, Iowa, where she qualified for the NJCAA national championships with Hawkeye Community College.
Dina Khvastovich hails from Belarus, where she has been awarded the Women's Belarus Golf Open Cup, the Spring Open Cup, and the VII Minsk Golf Club Cup.
Golf Course
The Payne Stewart Invitational is played at Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield, Missouri. The course is a par 71 that plays 6,126 yards. The Payne Stewart Invitational is a three-round tournament, with rounds one and two taking place on Monday and round three taking place on Tuesday.
