Leatherneck Women's Golf Ends Season With Fifth Place Finish At OVC Championships

MACOMB, Ill- The Western Illinois Women's Golf season came to an end today as they wrapped up their final tournament at the OVC Championships in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The Leathernecks finished in fifth place as a team, shooting a 966 (+102) in three rounds. 

Abby Hunter (+19) and Mia Scrimgeour (+21) led the way for WIU, as they both finished in the top 15. Hunter (13th place) shot a 76 in round three, which was her best round of the tournament. She would par 14 of the 18 holes to shoot +4 in the final round. Her lone birdie of the tournament came in round one on hole 12, which was a 450 yard par five. 

Scrimgeour would finish right behind Hunter in 14th place. She would have her best round come in round two, in which she shot a 77 (+5). She had two birdies on the back nine to finish with a back nine score of 37 (+1).

Rounding out the scores for WIU was Olivia Kerr (+29), Olivia McCrystal (+39), and Sophia Thorne (+49). WIU finishes their last tournament of the Spring with four of the five golfers placing in the top 30.
