MACOMB, Ill.- John Koszulinski
(Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln Way-East) has been named as the Western Illinois Scholar-Athlete of the Week for performances on the
field and in the classroom.
Koszulinski led the Fighting
Leathernecks (2-1) to a series victory in the team's season-opening series against Furman this past weekend.
The junior catcher recorded a .417 batting average over the
weekend with five hits, four runs, six RBI and a home run. Koszulinski recorded all six of his RBI in the third and final game of the Furman series, including a grand slam, to lead Western to a 19-9 victory over the Paladins.
The law enforcement and justice administration major also boasts an impressive performance in the classroom, posting a 3.042 cumulative grade point average.
The
Leathernecks will return to action at St. Louis at 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 3 before taking a weekend trip to Norman, Okla. for the Sooner Classic from March 5-7.
