WIU Women’s Golf Demonstrates Growth in Three-Round Event

MACOMB, Ill.- The Western Illinois University women's golf team competed in a three-round event at the Lamar Cardinal Challenge, showing strength across the tournament and closing with their strongest round on the final day.

Round 1:
WIU opened the tournament with consistency across the lineup. Sophia Thorne led the Leathernecks with an opening-round 85 (+13). Dina Khvastovic followed closely with an 87 (+15). Cianna Law and Libby Larkin each posted 94 (+22).

Round 2:
The Leathernecks maintained a similar pace in round two, with slight improvements in consistency. Thorne again led WIU, finishing with an 86 (+14). Khvastovic added an 88 (+16). Law shaved a stroke off her first-round score with a 93 (+21), while Larkin matched her opening round with another 94 (+22).

Round 3:
WIU saved its best performance for the final round, highlighted by a strong showing from Thorne. She led all Leathernecks with an impressive 81 (+9). Law also turned in a solid final round, finishing with an 86 (+14). Khvastovic posted a 90 (+18), while Larkin rounded out the scoring with a 98 (+26).

The Leathernecks finished fifth overall with a three-round total of +212, posting team rounds of +72, +73, and +67 across the 36-hole event.
