WIU Baseball Signs Five to 2026 Class on National Signing Day

MACOMB, Ill.- The Western Illinois Baseball program has signed five student-athletes to its 2026 recruiting class on National Signing Day. The Leathernecks add four pitchers and a catcher, each bringing collegiate playing experience from some of the most competitive Junior College programs in the area.

Coach Davis Comments on the Class: "We are very excited to welcome this group to Macomb on National Signing Day. The interest in our program continues to grow, and to be able to address some needs early on in the recruiting process validates that. These young men are not only good baseball players, but the type of people that we need in our program to continue to grow here at Western. I also want to give a huge shoutout to Coach Merrigan, our Recruiting Coordinator, and our entire Coaching Staff for the countless hours they have put into this class."

Coach Merrigan Comments on the Class: "We feel very excited about the class joining us in the early signing period.  These outstanding student-athletes will carry our great culture on and off the field.  Each one of these Student-Athletes will make an immediate impact on our team for the 2026 fall, and the coaching staff feels our program has addressed some immediate needs for next year.  With the signing of these student athletes in the early period, it has really capped off a terrific fall, and we look to carry this momentum into the spring season."

Kollin Asbury - 6'4 210 - RHP - Kankakee CC

Coach Davis Comments: "We are very excited that Kollin will be joining our program. Kollin had an outstanding freshman campaign at Kankakee, notching 7 wins, 68 IP, 71 K's, and a 3.28 ERA. Kollin will be expected to be a huge piece of the rotation and to make an immediate impact on our program."

Kollin Asbury arrives in Macomb from Potomac, Illinois, after playing at Kankakee Community College and Armstrong Township High School. The 6'4 right-handed pitcher earned VVC All-County First Team, All-Conference, 1A All-State, and All-Area First Team honors as a senior, and participated in the Illinois vs. Missouri Legion Baseball All-Star Game. He also excelled in basketball, earning Vermilion Valley All-Conference First Team and All-Area First Team recognition, and finishing with the most points in Vermilion County basketball tournament history. Asbury was also active in FFA. He chose Western Illinois to continue his academic path in Criminal Justice and to compete at a higher level of collegiate baseball.

Seth Harris - 6'0 165 - LHP - Frontier CC

Coach Davis Comments: "Seth is a left-hand specialist who can pitch every day and will compete at a very high level. He comes from a very competitive high school program before Frontier CC, where he posted 17 APP, 24 IP, 27 K's, and 3.65 ERA as a Freshman. Seth will help our staff in many ways."

Seth Harris joins the Leathernecks from Paducah, Kentucky. The 6'0 left-handed pitcher comes to Macomb after competing at Frontier Community College and McCracken County High School. Harris chose Western Illinois for the strong coaching staff and the supportive academic environment.

Danny Rollins - 5'9 185 - C - Southeastern CC

Coach Davis Comments: "Danny is a very good defensive catcher who spent two years at a program that went to Omaha, and this season at one of the best D2 JCs in the country. His toughness and competitiveness is what we were attracted to and look forward to Danny bringing those attributes to our program."

Danny Rollins, a 5'9 catcher from Roselle, Illinois, arrives at WIU after time at Southeastern Community College and Murray State. While at Murray State, he helped the Racers reach the MVC, Regional, and Super Regional tournaments. Rollins selected Western Illinois because of the experienced coaching staff, the opportunity the program provides, and its proximity to home.

Chris Iannuzzi - 6'3 210 - RHP - Southeastern CC

Coach Davis Comments: "Chris will help out the pitching staff in a variety of ways, and once again, comes to us from a very competitive JC Program. Chris is another guy who can throw a lot after posting 31 APP, 41 IP, 40 K's, and just 9 BB's in his freshman season at Southeastern CC. Premium strike thrower that will add value Day 1."

Chris Iannuzzi, a 6'3 right-handed pitcher from Buffalo Grove, Illinois, also comes to WIU after competing at Southeastern Community College. During his time there, and as a freshman, he posted a 4.35 ERA while earning ICCAC All-Region Honorable Mention honors. He also helped lead his team to the JUCO World Series. Iannuzzi shared that he chose WIU because of the commitment and vision of Coach Davis and Coach Merrigan, and his desire to be part of a growing program.

Keaton Favre - 6'5 210 - RHP - Lewis and Clark CC

Coach Davis Comments:  "Keaton is a huge arm that has very low mileage, had a good fall, and has better days ahead of him. With an FB up to 92, and possibly more, we are very excited about the future with Keaton, the impact he can have on our program and beyond."

Keaton Favre joins Western Illinois from Highland, Illinois, after competing at Lewis and Clark Community College and Highland High School. The 6'5 right-handed pitcher also played basketball in high school and spent five years competing with the Gateway Bruins baseball program. Favre said he chose WIU because of the people in the program, the coaching staff, and the campus environment, noting that he knew after his visit that WIU was where he wanted to be.
