Tournament | Windy City Classic

Macomb, IL - The Western Illinois Men's and Women's Golf teams continue their season at the Windy City Classic on Monday, Oct. 6th, through Tuesday, Oct. 7th. This is the fourth and final tournament for the Men's golf team this fall, and the second of four for the Women's team. 

Golfer of the Week

Owen Howe was the first Leatherneck to earn the OVC Golfer of the Week Award for the 2025 season. Howe recorded a 210 (-3) total score for all three rounds, and scored an Even Par in round two at the Zach Johnson Invitational. 

Returning Big Names

Western Illinois returns three players from last year's squad. Bayden Hubacher and Nathan Tillman highlight the three returners. Hubacher and Tillman played in all four events last season. The final returner is a Burlington, IA native, Mateo Rascon. Rascon also played in all four events from the previous season, with his best finish being a tie for 18th at the OVC Championships. The Leathernecks also welcome back Johnston, IA native Owen Howe, who tied for 38th at the OVC championships. Maverick Schwabe returns to WIU after placing 29th at the OVC Championships. 

Western Illinois returns three players from last year's squad for the women. Cianna Law and Makayla Mussatto highlight the three returners. Law and Mussatto played in all five events last season. The final returner is Sophia Thorne. Thorne also played in all five events from the previous season, with her best finish being a tie for 34th at the OVC Championships. 

New Faces 

Easton Korell comes to WIU from New Sharon, Iowa, where he placed first in the Western Iowa Junior Open with the River Valley Golf Club. The Leathernecks also welcome Julian Ramon Ortiz, who comes from San Luis Potosí, Mexico. 

The women's team welcomes Libby Larkin to WIU from Waterloo, Iowa, where she qualified for the NJCAA national championships with Hawkeye Community College. Dina Khvastovich hails from Belarus, where she has been awarded the Women's Belarus Golf Open Cup, the Spring Open Cup, and the VII Minsk Golf Club Cup.

Golf Course 

The Windy City Classic is played at the Harborside International Golf Center in Chicago, Illinois. Rounds one and two take place on Monday, and round three takes place on Tuesday.

Women: University of Southern Indiana, Bethune-Cookman, Jackson State, Valparaiso, Christian Brothers, Bluefield State, University of Illinois-Chicago, Eastern Illinois University, Chicago State
