Last Time Out
Western Illinois offense exploded for 17 runs on Tuesday (May 2) in a 17-10 winning effort. WIU plated nine runs in the first two innings, helping them pull away from the Lions. Western Illinois bats totaled 15 hits on the day, six being extra-base hits. Nick Mitchell led the way with three hits, including his two doubles. Pospisil, Botaletto, Allgeyer, Harrington, and Heavilin had two hits.

Leathernecks Stat Leader
Nick Mitchell remains at the top of offensive categories for the Leathernecks. The former Summit League All-Freshman teamer leads WIU in batting avg (.396), OPS (1.120), runs (32), hits (55), doubles (13), triples (5), total bases (87), SLG% (.626), walks (27) OB% (.494).

Getting on Base
Nick Mitchell keeps getting on base. On Tuesday against Lindenwood got on base in four of his five at-bats. He completed the game with two doubles, a single, and a walk. Mitchell increased his on-base streak to 21 games which is a team-high this season. Jake Allgeyer reached base in 19 straight games to start the season.

Chasing Fargo
Western Illinois is looking to return to the Summit League Championships for the first time since 2019. The Leathernecks are currently sitting 1.5 games back from Omaha for the fourth spot in the Summit League standings that would guarantee them the 656-mile trip to Fargo, ND.

Double Digit Hits
Western Illinois collected 15 hits in their 17-10 win over the Lindenwood Lions. WIU collected double-digit hits for the 14th time this season on Tuesday afternoon. The 15 hits tied a team-high with the 15 hits they collected at Belmont on March 11.

Chasing The Record Book
Jack Bell engraved his name in Leatherneck Baseball history last season, setting the record for single-season appearances (31). Bell is chasing more WIU Baseball season records. Bell currently sits eight appearances from breaking the all-time career appearance record at 72. He also sits ten appearances away from breaking his single-season appearance record.

Scouting Omaha
Omaha is fourth in the Summit League with a 5-10 league record. They are on a three-game losing streak after falling to Missouri State 11-9 on Tuesday evening. In the Maverick's last Summit League series, they dropped two out of three games to St. Thomas. Mike Boeve and Devin Hurdle currently lead Omaha in batting average. Boeve is hitting .408 and has started in all 35 games he has appeared in. Hurdle is also over the .400 mark, as he is batting .404.

Western Illinois heads back home for a Tuesday doubleheader against St. Thomas. These two games are a part of the rescheduled games from March 24-26. The Leathernecks will head to St Thomas over the weekend, taking on the Tommies in a four-game series.
