New Home Attendance Policy
Beginning on Sunday, families of WIU student-athletes will have the opportunity to attend home matches. In compliance with state and local guidelines, there will be a 50-person limit in Western Hall. However, visiting fans of opposing teams are not permitted, and a WIU player pass list will allow access into the arena for family members only.
Doors will open 45 minutes prior to each match, and attendees are asked to enter through the east arena door adjacent to the Q-Lot parking lot. Fans will be required to wear face coverings at all times. Fans will also have their temperatures taken upon arrival, with socially-distanced seating being enforced. There is no admissions charge for home matches.
Most Recently…
Western concluded its roach stretch at Denver earlier this week (Feb. 21-22). Day one of the series went to the Pioneers in three sets (18-25, 19-25, 18-25). Peyton Bowman and Emma Norris paced Western's attacking game with seven kills apiece. Hunt had 14 assists and seven digs. Gabby DePersio led the defense with 13 digs. Aubrey Putman added five kills and four digs.
The host team again won day two in three frames (9-25, 27-29, 19-25). Monday night, nevertheless, was headlined by a blow-to-blow battle in the second set. It was the second time this season that WIU went to extra points. Mitchell especially got hot during that period - delivering six kills in 12 attacks. The junior and Putman ultimately each finished with a team-high nine kills. Norris had six, while Bowman and Kennedy Davis both chipped in five. Hunt's 21 assists tied for the highest in the match. Putman also contributed a team-leading seven digs.
Still Standing Out
Through all nine matches, Bowman has continually shown a prowess of attacking efficiency. The junior is 65-128 in total attacks - good for a .383 hitting percentage that ranks second-best amongst all Summit League individuals. She is also tenth in blocks per set (0.79). Hunt and DePersio sit at the sixth spot in assists and digs, respectively. Mitchell stands eighth in kills (3.0/set).
A Brief History
This all-time series between the two programs started back in Sept. 2012. Omaha leads 13-3 and has won the last seven matchups.
Scouting the Opposition
The Mavericks rest at third in league standings and are currently on a three-match winning streak… Sadie Limback's 3.51 kills/set stands highest on the team and fourth-best in the league… Limback is also sixth on the league boards in hitting percentage (.329)… Sami Clarkson has amassed 385 assists (9.87/set)… Claire Mountjoy is up to 188 digs (4.82/set)… both Clarkson and Mountjoy rank third as league individuals in their respective categories.
