COLUMBIA, MO - The Western Illinois Volleyball team fell to Idaho 3-0 on Sunday August 30th.
The first set was a contentious one, ending with a final score of 26-28. The two teams both traded points throughout the set, with no team leading by more than 3 points at any point during the set.
The second set also started out very competitive, with the two teams going back and forth early, before a 4 point run by Idaho put the set score to 20-13. The Leathernecks started to fight back, getting the score to 16-21 before the set finished by a score of 25-18.
The third and final set was also contentious early, with the Leathernecks keeping the score close, before Idaho went on a 7 point run, which culminated in a final set score of 25-13.
Western Illinois was led by Emilia Kouri and Kennedy Adiar, who both had 8 kills for the Leathernecks. Grace Ulatowski had 8 digs for Western, which led the team, with Kennedy Adair coming in second for the team with 6. Adair also had 3 blocks, which led the team, and Jaleah Bauss had 15 assists which also led the Leathernecks for the game.Kiana Greer led the charge for Idaho with 9 kills, with Csenge Krakoczki having 19 assists, which led the Vandals. Keira Kleidon led Idaho with 15 digs as well, which was the only total over double digits for the Vandals.
The Leathernecks will be back in action September 4th at the SDSU Invitational presented by Canine Country Club, with two games against South Dakota State and Bradley.
