Dunne Signs with Cincinnati Reds

Ryan Dunne will continue his career with the Cincinnati Reds organization.

MACOMB, Ill. – Ryan Dunne finished his collegiate baseball career in purple and gold at Western Illinois University and will now turn his sights to the professional ranks as the newest addition to the Cincinnati Reds organization.

NCAA transfer rules limited Dunne to one playing season with the Leathernecks, and he made the best out of it. He finished the 2018 season as the Summit League's leader in strikeouts, and the 98 Ks also ranked third most in Western's single-season history. He fanned nine hitters in three of his last four starts, and dealt a career-high 10 strikeouts versus Oral Roberts, the reigning league champions.

Dunne crowned his senior campaign as a Second Team All-Summit League selection, recording a 4.68 earned run average in 84.2 innings. The Peoria, Ill., native went 4-7 on the season and limited opponents to a .251 average against him.
