The Leathernecks opened the weekend with an 8-6 win behind a three-RBI performance from Gage Hoover, before falling 10-2 in game two. WIU responded in the rubber match with a gritty 4-3 comeback victory, scoring two runs in the ninth inning to secure the series. Kamryn Link delivered a game-tying double in the final frame, and the go-ahead run scored moments later on a wild pitch as the Leathernecks improved their momentum heading into the next matchup.

Scouting Quincy

Quincy University enters the 2025-26 season as a competitive NCAA Division II program out of the GLVC, coming off a 26-27 record in 2025 with an 18-14 conference mark. Quincy brings back several key bats, including David Broughton, who led the team last season with 59 RBIs and 12 doubles, while Joe Huffman and Payton Mansfield add veteran presence in the lineup. The Hawks feature a rotation led by Roman Harrison, Ben Draeger, and Kade Ruffner, giving them strength in weekend series play.

Scouting UT Martin

The UT Martin Skyhawks baseball team enters the 2026 season as a competitive Ohio Valley Conference program looking to build on recent experience and return to the top half of the league standings. After a 24–29 campaign in 2025 and a 13–14 mark in OVC play, the Skyhawks return a solid core of contributors while adding new talent to strengthen both the lineup and pitching staff. UT Martin has shown the ability to generate offense in bunches and apply pressure on opposing defenses, but early 2026 results indicate a team still working to find consistency in conference play while aiming to turn close games into wins.

Quincy vs WIU History

Western Illinois has had the upper hand in the all-time series against Quincy, leading 51–23 across 74 meetings. The two programs haven't played since 1999, so this matchup brings back a series that's been quiet for more than 20 years. With both schools just a short distance apart, it adds a bit of a regional feel, and WIU looks to keep its edge in the series while Quincy tries to start a new chapter.

UT Martin vs WIU History

The all-time series between the UT Martin Skyhawks and Western Illinois Leathernecks has been highly competitive over the last two seasons, with both programs trading wins in close contests. In 2024, the Leathernecks hosted a three-game series in Macomb and took two of three from the Skyhawks, opening with a 4–3 win, falling 14–3 in the middle game, and bouncing back with a 7–6 victory to claim the series. The matchup remained tight in 2025 when the teams met in Martin, as UT Martin edged Western Illinois 4–3 in the opener before the Leathernecks responded with back-to-back road wins of 7–6 and 14–9 to secure another series victory. Across the six meetings shown, Western Illinois holds a 4–2 advantage, with four of the six games decided by just one run, showing how evenly matched the two Ohio Valley Conference opponents have been.
