MACOMB, Ill.- Western Illinois dropped game 2 at Tennessee Tech, falling 10-2.
The Leathernecks struggled to generate consistent offense, managing two runs despite putting runners on throughout the game. Western Illinois had a few opportunities early but couldn't capitalize with timely hits, leaving multiple runners stranded.
Tennessee Tech took control by steadily building its lead across the middle innings. A big offensive stretch helped the Golden Eagles create separation, highlighted by extra-base hits and run production with two outs.
Wandel Campana and Gage Hoover contributed at the plate for WIU, each recording hits, while the Leathernecks' two runs came from situational hitting that briefly cut into the deficit. However, the offense couldn't string together enough to mount a comeback.
Western Illinois will look to bounce back in game 3 as they aim to regroup and win the series against the Golden Eagles.
