MACOMB, Ill. – After wrapping up a four-game road trip, Western Illinois returns home for seven games starting with a Summit League series versus Oral Roberts. This weekend's match-up has two of the top teams squaring off in ORU (7-2 SL) against the Leathernecks (6-3, tied 2nd place).

The current homestand is part of a larger stretch of 14 out of 18 games at Alfred D. Boyer Stadium. Western will play host to St. Ambrose midweek then next weekend end the first half of Summit League play at home against Fort Wayne.

VISINTINE EXTENDS HIS CAREER-HIGH STREAK: Sophomore Roman Visintine extended his team-leading and career-high hitting streak to 13 games following a 2-for-3 performance at Bradley... He enters this weekend with a .408 batting average, but is 16 at-bats from meeting the minimum requirements for ranking among the statistical leaders in the Summit League which would have him first... In his 13-game streak, Visintine has six multi-hit games... It began with a pinch-hit single at Missouri State and he's started every game since then after recovering from an injury in the off-season.

SUMMIT LEAGUE START: Western captured its third straight conference series win to start the season following a 2-of-3 effort at Omaha... Just like the Omaha series, Western lost its opener to North Dakota State before winning the final two games... The last time Western won that many series to open Summit League play (then Mid-Continent Conference) was 2005 when the Leathernecks won four straight to start: taking 3-of-4 at Valparaiso, 3-of-4 versus Centenary, 3-of-4 at Oakland and 3-of-4 versus Chicago State.

WESTFAHL IN THE TOP 10: Junior Nate Westfahl put his name in the WIU season 'Top 10' record book when he recorded his fourth save of the year last weekend at Omaha... Westfahl moved into a tie for seventh with his four saves... Season leader Brian Loconsole (Triple A - Los Angeles Angels) has nine and the last two years the career leader Tyler Owings recorded five and six, respectively... One more save for Westfahl will move him into a potential five-way tie for third place.

NATIONAL RANKINGS: Western's highest national ranking heading into this week is 25th in triples per game (Summit League leading 0.42/11)... WIU is 87th in walks (121) and 90th in sacrifice flies (12)... Conner Currier stands 63rd in walks per game (0.83)... Nick Schrader ranks 17th in sacrifice bunts (Summit League leading 8)... Colton Pogue is 77th with a Summit League leading three sacrifice flies... Nate Westfahl is 83rd with four saves... Joe Mortillaro is tied for the Summit League lead with seven starts on the mound, good for 30th in the country.

RPI AND OPPONENTS: Western moved up to 217 in the weekly RPI ratings on D1Baseball.com... The overall strength of schedule is 134 while the non-conference strength of schedule is 66th... Of the non-conference opponents played so far, only Northern Kentucky (11-18) has a losing record with Missouri State ranked 16th this week and Arkansas in the 'Top 25' mix.

TEAM NOTES:
• Conner Currier, Drue Galassi and Chris Tschida are tied for third in the Summit League with two triples each.

• Steve McShane is tied for fourth in the Summit League going 7-for-9 in stolen bases.

• Conner Currier ranks tied for fourth in on-base percentage (.449).

• Joe Mortillaro is fifth in innings pitched (35.2), tied for eighth in wins, and tied for fourth in strikeouts (34).

LAST YEAR: Western dropped all six games to ORU last year in the Golden Eagles return to the league.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES: Oral Roberts is coming off a three-game sweep of North Dakota State last weekend to move into first place in the Summit League... The Leathernecks are looking to end an 12-game losing streak to ORU... Western split a four game series against the Golden Eagles at home in 2011... Noah Cummings is one of seven hitters at .300 or better at the plate, leading the team with a .348 clip... Brady Womacks owns a 0.46 ERA and 2-1 record with five saves, having allowed just one run in 19.2 innings.
