Women's Golf Finishes Summit League Championships in 7th

FINAL RESULTS

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. - Western Illinois women's golf concluded action in the 2016 Summit League Championships on Wednesday (April 20) in seventh place with a three-round score of 966. The Leathernecks opened the tournament with a 319 in round one, shot a 312 in the second round, and finished the third round with a 335.

"This year's tournament certainly featured challenging weather," said head coach Lia Biehl Lukkarinen. "We didn't play well today in the wind, but I was pleased with how we played in the rain during the opening round. We were also able to put together three solid scores during day two, which I was pleased with. We've got a lot to be proud of this season and plenty of talent to build on for next fall."

Allie Leingang led Western with a three-round score of 234, finishing in 16th place overall. The sophomore opened with a 77 and a 75 in the first two rounds before posting an 82 during the final 18 holes.

Fellow sophomore Alex Krehbiel finished tied for 22nd with a 239 after recording scores of 79, 75 and 85. Two stokes behind Krehbiel was junior Anna Cullinan who tallied a three-round score of 241 (78-78-85) and finished tied for 25th.

Seniors Julie Whalen and Allison Farrell rounded out the Leathernecks' lineup with scores of 252 and 264, respectively. Whalen finished in 39th place, while Farrell finished in 44th.

Denver earned the team title with a score of 878, while Denver's Jessica Carty earned the individual crown with a 217.
