Women's Golf Finishes Action in Tennessee Tech's Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

Allie Leingang led WIU with a 242 and tied for 17th overall

FINAL REUSLTS

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - Western Illinois women's golf wrapped up action in Tennessee Tech's Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate Tuesday (March 22). The Leathernecks shot a 1,006 (329-341-336) and finished in 10th.

"The firm, fast greens got the best of us this week. We had some good scores in the tournament, but overall our scores were too high throughout," said head coach Lia Biehl Lukkarinen. "The wind picked up the last two days which did not make play any easier. We will continue to focus on hitting our spots and not leaving ourselves short sided. Both sophomores Allie and Alex had an overall good tournament. We look forward to practicing and getting ready for our next tournament at Bradley."

Sophomore Allie Leingang led Western with a T17th-place performance, finishing with a three-round total of 242. Leingang hit a 77 in round one before recording marks of 81 and 84 in rounds two and three, respectively.

Finishing a stroke behind Leingang was sophomore Alex Krehbiel who shot a 243 and finished tied for 21st place. Krehbiel opened with an 83, shot a 79 in round two, and finished with an 81. She finished third in the tournament on par four scoring.

Anna Cullinan and Katie McTaggart, who was golfing as an individual, finished with three-round scores of 253 and 254, respectively. Cullinan tied for 39th place, while McTaggart tied for 44th.

Also golfing as an individual was Julie Whalen who finished in a tie for 58th with a 261. The senior recorded an 82 in round one before hitting a 92 in the second round and a 87 in round three.

Freshman Mariah Peters and senior Allison Farrell finished a stroke from one another. Peters carded a 268 and finished in 65th, while Allison Farrell hit a 269 and finished in a tie for 66th.
