EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Western Illinois men's tennis dropped a 6-1,
nonconference decision to SIUE on Tuesday (April 10). The loss gives the Leathernecks
a 4-12 overall mark.
No. 2 singles player Ben Yue battled to a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) final win, the
only individual victory for Western Illinois on the day.
Patrick Hammers put up a fight in No. 1 singles play, but was ultimately
bested 6-4, 6-1. Andrew Yopp at No. 3 singles and Justin Liss at No. 6 singles
each posted a point in their respective matches while Daniel Sweeney at No. 4 singles
and Jesus Roman at No. 5 singles were held scoreless.
In doubles action, No. 1 duo of Hammers and Yue fell 8-1, while No. 2
pair of Yopp and Sweeney and No. 3 tandem of Roman and Lisa each lost 8-0.
The Leathernecks return to the court at home on Monday (April 16)
against Nebraska-Omaha and Tuesday (April 17) against Bradley.
