RESULTS
NORMAL, Ill. - Junior Jason Crisman and sophomore Chelsea
Lynes both recorded two second-place finishes and the Western Illinois
track and field program had four athletes break into the record books Saturday
(Jan. 22) when the Fighting Leathernecks competed in the Illinois State Invite
inside the Horton Field House on the campus of Illinois State University.
Crisman broke into the top 10
of both shot put and weight throw on Saturday. He finished second in the shot
put with a personal-best mark of 55-06.25 feet (sixth best all-time) and second
in the weight throw after a throw of 58-00.50 feet, good for seventh all-time
and a personal-best. Senior Jessica Ortega placed third in the women's shot put
(39-11.50) and fourth in the weight throw with the tenth best mark in school
history, 52-04.50 feet.
Lynes recorded
a second-place finish in the women's 1-mile run (5:12.00), and junior Amy Byers
(3:05.92) and Lynes (3:06.32) placed first and second, respectively, in the
women's 1000-meter run.
In the
men's high jump, sophomore Jamario Taylor and freshman Michael Crabtree finished
first and second, and both collected marks that place in the school's top 10. Taylor's
personal-best mark of 6-10.75 feet ranks fourth all-time, and Crabtree is now
tied for ninth all-time after he reached a personal-best of 6-08.75. Sophomore Davin
Dollison placed first in the men's long jump (21-06.00) and second in the
triple jump with a personal-best mark of 46-00.75.
Senior Nikki
Klier placed third in the women's 200-meter dash (26.30s) and sixth out of ten
competitors in the 600-meter run (1:40.35). Sophomore Matt Leal finished sixth
out of nine competitors in the men's 600-meter run (1:25.81).
Freshman Michael
Castel was the men's best finisher in the one-mile run with a fifth place
finish (4:36.30) out of ten competitors, and sophomore Patrick Thomas recorded a
second-place finish in the men's 200-meter dash with a personal-best mark of
23.51 seconds.
For the
second consecutive event, the men's 4 x 400 meter relay squad of Leal, junior Michael
Hemming, senior Garrett DeGross, and junior David Glenn collected a second
place finish, this time with a mark of 3:34.68.
Western
Illinois is back in action next Saturday (Jan. 29) when the Fighting
Leathernecks travel to Champaign, Ill. to compete in the Illinois
Intercollegiate on the campus of the University of Illinois.
