MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois track and field closed out competition at the WashU Distance Carnival with a pair of notable performances on the women's side, highlighted by a top-six finish and an addition to the program record book.
Graduate student Maleigha Huston led the Leathernecks in the 800 meters, placing sixth overall with a time of 2:12.85. Huston's finish paced Western Illinois in the event and marked one of the team's top efforts on the day.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Junior Emma-Kate Watt turned in a standout performance, finishing ninth overall in 10:59.92. Her time moves her to third all-time in program history in the event.
Senior Aylana Cezar also competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
The Leathernecks are back in action this weekend at the Big Blue Classic hosted by Eastern Illinois.Â
