INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Fighting Leatherneck women's golf team finished play in the Butler Fall Invitational on on Monday and it was another strong result. The women finished in fifth place out of 14 teams.
Senior Tara Peterman shot a career low 73 in her second round of action to secure a tie for fifth place. Peterman finished with a 151 (78,73).
Claire Gursh showed consistency as she was locked into a tie for 10th place after day one and stayed there with a 153 (77,76). The round of 76 is a season low. Kristi Tschudin tied for 27th as she strung together rounds of 81 and 78.
Emily Brink shot a 160 (79,81) to tie for 30th and set her two-round tournament low.
Lindsay Wandrey used 169 (83,86) shots in her two rounds of play.
Alexa Arent competed as an individual and put together two strong rounds to finish with a score of 155 (78,77). She was the low scorer among golfers competing as individuals and finished in a tie for 15th.
"The course was set up somewhat difficult and I am glad we could close the gap on the second day which is something we have struggled with," siad head coach Lia Biehl Lukkarinen. "It was very cold and we showed some toughness with the second round improvement. This was the toughest competition we have seen and I'm happy with how we performed"
Bradley University took home the top team and individual titles. The Braves shot a collective 602 (301,301) and Kelly Amundrud carded a 143 (73,70).
The women will conclude their fall season at the NIU Huskie Classic in DeKalb, Ill. on Oct. 10-11.
