Harris, Hadnott take wins at Illinois Invitational

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. ? ChrisDell Harris and Blair Hadnott both took individual event wins to pace the Western Illinois track and field team at the Illinois Invitational Saturday, May 2.

Harris won the women's 100 meter dash in a time of 11.80 while Hadnott won the triple jump with a distance of 14.35 meters. The meet was not scored for team results.

Harris' win in the 100 was only the beginning of a successful day for the senior sprinter. Harris also took fifth in the 200 meter dash at a time of 24.63 as well as placing sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.48 meters.

Hadnott, too, figured among the top finishers in another event with a third place long jump of 6.79 meters.

Other standout performances for Western's women's track squad included Amy Byers' third place finish in the 400 meter hurdles at 1:02.30 and Mary Kate Jackson's fifth place finish in the 1500 meter run at 4:40.31.

In the field events, Nicole Manning finished second in the pole vault at a height of 3.75 meters, Ashley Yancey took third in the triple jump at 12.08 meters, Dana LaRue finished third in the shot put with a 13.86 meter heave and Lizzy Jones finished third in the discus with a toss of 40.49 meters.

Western's other top finishers on the men's side included Mikel McGraw's third place finish in the 3,000 meter run at 8:37.55, Brian Pinta's third place finish in the 400 meter hurdles at 54.40 and Tony Odele's fifth place finish in the javelin throw at 46.62 meters.
