WIU Track & Field Closes Out Season at Cyclone Twilight

AMES, Iowa — Western Illinois Track & Field wrapped up its outdoor season with a strong showing at the Cyclone Twilight.

During the field events, Karlee Zumstein placed eighth in the women's high jump, clearing 1.53 meters. In the men's high jump, Garrison Murray secured third with a solid mark of 1.91 meters.

In the long jump, Cage Davison soared to fourth place with a leap of 7.12 meters, followed closely by Toriano Tate, who landed in sixth with a 6.93-meter jump.

The Leathernecks impressed in the women's triple jump, with three athletes finishing in the top 10. Nakeita Kessling led the way with a second place jump of 11.54 meters. Kelsey Hutchins claimed fourth (11.35m), while Yoanny Espinoza finished seventh with a personal record of 10.79 meters.

WIU dominated the women's pole vault, sweeping the podium. Dana Surwillo continued her stellar season, clearing a personal-best 3.90 meters to take first place. Emma Ponx earned second with her outdoor PR of 3.80 meters, and Colleen Johnson rounded out the top three with a 3.65-meter vault.

On the men's side, Arnie Grunert secured 2nd in the pole vault with a clearance of 5.05 meters.

In the track events, Jolena Site clocked 1:01.72 in the women's 400 meters to finish 9th. Cage Davison showcased his versatility by placing 7th in the men's 100 meters (11.07 seconds), while Caleb Brown set a new personal best of 22.91 seconds to take 7th in the 200 meters.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Kaytlyn Baker finished 9th with a time of 1:10.94.

Aurora Dominguez hit a big personal record in the women's 1500 meters, finishing 25th. On the men's side, Eason Comer ran a PR of 1:59.03 in the 800 meters for 21st place, while Sean Hudspath placed 17th with a time of 1:54.38.

The Leathernecks travel to Cape Girardeau to compete in the OVC outdoor championships from May 15-17 to wrap up the 2025 season.
