Men's tennis finish regular season 4-1

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Western Illinois men's tennis team finished 2007 Mid-Continent Conference action with a 4-1 record, after defeating IUPUI 4-3, in Saturday, April 20 competition.

The Leathernecks (14-8) went into singles play 1-0 after taking the No. 2 doubles slot 8-6 and the No. 3 position 8-5.

In singles play, junior Martin Bostrom defeated IUPUI's Gabriel Garcia at the No. 1 position (7-6 (6), 6-4). At No. 3 singles, sophomore Sean Ragee-Nelson took the win with a 6-2, 6-3 decision while junior Michael Tiu took a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.

Falling in a tie-breaker match at No. 2 singles was senior Justin Junck (2-6, 6-1, 6-3).

The men head to Valparaiso, Ind., to compete in the 2007 Mid-Con Men's Tennis Conference Tournament as the 2006 defending champions, Friday, April 27.
