SHREVEPORT, La. ? The Western Illinois men's tennis team fell, 5-2, to Oral Roberts in Friday, April 20 morning competition.
The Leathernecks' (13-8, 3-1 Mid-Continent Conference) loss to Oral Roberts was the men's first loss in league play. At No. 1 singles, junior Martin Bostrom defeated ORU's Alexander Dargel (6-3, 6-4) while Sean Ragee-Nelson took a (6-1, 6-4) win at No. 6 singles to claim Western's two points.
In doubles play, No. 3 duo senior Drew Forsberg and Bostrom took the win with a (8-4) decision.
“Oral Roberts is a tough team,” said assistant coach Mike Fenwick. “There were a few unlucky points that could have changed things in our direction. Despite this loss, we are looking forward to compete against IUPUI on Saturday.”
The Leathernecks finish conference competition, Saturday, at 9 a.m., against IUPUI in Shreveport, La.
