MACOMB, Ill.- The Western Illinois women's soccer team finished the 2007 season with a record of 16-3-1, surpassing the 11-7-1 record set by the 2006 squad and setting the benchmark for the most successful team is school history.
Under the tutelage of first-year head coach Tony Guinn, the Westerwinds finished conference play with a perfect 8-0-0 record, which set a record for most wins in a single season by any conference team. Western Illinois would defeat Oral Roberts in the semi-finals of The Summit League Championship before falling to host Oakland 3-1.
Western Illinois had seven all-league members which passes 2005 and 2006's total of four. Senior

Katelyn Wisner, and
Kim Schuneman were first-team selections. Senior
Robyn Ruypers, junior
Lainey Bruhn, and sophomore
Meghan Tyk were named the second team. Freshman
Kelsey Pillsbury was named the all-newcomer team.
The 2007 squad also proved to be the best defensive team in the program's 11-year history. The Westerwinds set new records for goals-against average (0.78) and shutouts (9), passing the 2006 team in both categories.
Offensively, the 2007 Westerwinds ranked in the top three all-time in all of the major offensive categories. They ranked second in points (100) and goals (36), and ranked third in assists (28), shots (285), shots on goal (145).
Tyk set new records for wins in a season (12) and goals-against average (0.69), surpassing
Samantha Clark in both categories. Tyk tied Clark in shutouts in a single season with five.
Ruypers finished her career as Western Illinois' all-time leader in goals with 20, breaking Amanda Wandtke's (1998-2001) previous record of 19.
