Last week the Western Illinois men's golf team wrapped up play in the APSU Intercollegiate in second place with a score of 836. The Fighting Leathernecks fired a 280 in round one, a 276 in the second round and a 280 during the final 18 holes, and had two Leatherneck golfers finishing in the 'Top 10' overall. 

One of those golfers was Andrew Blackburn, a junior, who led the team and tied for sixth place after firing a career-best 207. Blackburn carded a 69 (-3) in each of the three rounds. His score of 207 ranks tied for fifth all-time in the WIU record book.

WIU's three-round score of 836 ranks first in the program's NCAA Division I era. The next closest scores came in the fall season of 2005 when Western recorded marks of 838 and 845. 

Throughout the fall season Blackburn led the team with a 73.13 stroke average and finished in the 'Top 10' twice out of the five fall events.
