Junior Chris Neaveill won two individual races and helped two relay teams touch first in two others in the Western Illinois men's swimming and diving squad's 186-101 victory over Truman State on Saturday. For his efforts, Neaveill has been named the Hampton Inn Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
Neaveill's 52.14 time in the 100-back and 50.44 time in the 100-fly earned him victories in each race. He also teamed with Samir Almhiemid, JD Furr and his brother Tyler Neaveill to secure first in the 200-medley relay in 1:35.53. Later, the Neaveill brothers, Almhiemid and Dylon Rykosky sprinted to a 3:12.21 time in the 400-free relay, again securing first place in the event.
A native of Germantown Hills, Ill., Neaveill has also excelled in the classroom, earning a 3.125 overall GPA in Supply Chain Management.
The Leathernecks swimming and diving teams will not compete again until January 16 against Eastern Illinois and Butler in Charleston, Ill.
