Location:
Hanson Field is located directly in the center of campus, just North of the University Union and South of Western Hall. Hanson field is an artificial (Matrix) surface. The stadium holds 16,368 fans. However thousands more can view the game from the hillside surrounding the south end of the field. Restrooms and concessions are available on the Northeast and Southeast side of the stadium.

Visiting Team Locker Room:
The visiting team locker room is located north of Hanson Field in Western Hall. Your locker room will be supplied with 200 towels, soap, cases of water and the requirements you have listed on the Visiting Team Travel form

Laundry Services:

Make all Laundry request to Director of Equipment Operations Brady Crane (Bl-Crane@wiu.edu) 48 hours in advance.

Visiting Team Sidelines:
The visiting team sideline is located on the East side of the stadium (opposite side of the press box). Sideline passes must be worn by all personnel with the exception of the student-athletes in uniform. 

Press Box:
Visiting Team Coaches' booth is located on the second floor of the press box in the Visiting Coaches Booth. There is a telephone hook-up in the press box along with bare wire accessibility in the press box and sideline for headsets.

  • A Wilson 1003 GST football will be used as the game ball. 
  • WIU home uniforms consist of a purple jersey along with a purple helmet. 
  • Ball Shaggers are to be provided by the home team.

If your team would like to practice or hold a walk through, please contact Mason Brock or Brady Crane. Hanson Field is unavailable from 3:00pm - 6:00pm on the day prior to game day. If access to a locker room is needed for this time, please make sure to note that on the Visiting Team Travel form under the "Practice Times & Game Day Arrival" section.

Complimentary Admissions:
Player guests will be admitted only with a picture ID. Western Illinois will provide the staff to handle all visitors' tickets. The player pass list is located at the south gate of Hanson Field.

Gates & Will Call:
Gates to Hanson Field will open 90 minutes prior to kickoff. Visiting team player guest lists are located at the North entrance. All other pass lists and Will Call are located on the West side of the stadium.

Team Credentials:
Western Illinois Athletics will provide visiting teams with game day credentials, please communicate with Mason Brock or Brady Crane for those requests. Credentials can be mailed or delivered to you upon your arrival. Please understand that the security and integrity of field access will be heavily dependent on all persons adherence to the policies and procedures of Hanson Field. It is the responsibility of the visiting team to distribute all credentials to their coaches and all other working personnel. Working personnel is defined by WIU Athletics by those individuals with game day related activities on the sidelines and/or within the press box. Credentials are non-transferable and must be worn in full view at all times. Those without credentials will be asked to leave all restricted areas or will be removed. Field access gates are monitored at all times. Those without credentials - regardless of status - will be denied access. A maximum of 30 individuals directly involved in the game will be issued credentials. Additional passes, up to 60, are available upon request. Individuals, other than players in full uniform, shall wear a credential marked "Team." No other credential is valid for the team area.

Parking & Arrival:
Upon arrival to Western Hall,  you may unload the buses on the Northwest side of Western Hall. For both Friday practices and Saturday games, buses and equipment trucks should park in the Credit Union Parking Log on University Drive. This parking lot is located at 322 W University Dr., Macomb, IL. As you turn on to University Drive, the Credit Union parking lot will be on your right as you are heading towards Western Hall. Game management staff will be waiting for your arrival in the parking lot at the time you designate on the Confirmation Form. Should there be additional vehicles driven by coaches and staff, arrangements for parking must be made in advance. 

Bus Drop

Equipment truck may still unload through our Q-Lot (large parking lot) and garage door entrance.

WIU Athletics has adopted a clear bag policy for all home football games. This is to ensure the safety of all patrons inside Hanson Field. The only bags that will now be permitted include:
  • Bags that are transparent plastic, vinyl or PVC tote and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12"
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bag or similar)
  • Small clutch bags no larger than 5.5"x 6.5"
  • An exception will be made for medically necessary items and diaper bags after proper inspection at the main gate

Press/Photo Credential Policy:
Requests for press and photo credentials should be made to Nick Gordon. Credentials must be visible at all times when in the stadium.

Post-Game Press Conferences:
For any questions regarding press conference please contact Athletic Communication, Nick Gordon.

Video Information:
Visiting Team filming areas are located on the roof of the press box (west side of the stadium). Your respective area is labeled at this location. Please be advised that this location is exposed to the elements.

Upon arrival, you will be provided the following items in your locker room and sideline from our athletic training staff.

Visiting Team Locker Room:
- Hydrocollator with hot pack covers - Four taping tables 
- Injury ice with bags - Treatment table
- Four cases of 20oz sport drinks on ice - Biohazard supplies
- Two 10 gallon coolers of ice water - Three sleeves of cups

Sideline:
- Table with four gallon coolers of ice water - Treatment table
- Four sleeves of cups - Injury ice
- Two cup holders

Emergency equipment will be available for your use. Western Illinois' team physician will be at the home bench at all times during the game. An orthopedist will also be present during the game. EMS and ambulance services will be on-site no later than 30 minutes prior to kick and located in the Northwest end zone during the game. Should x-ray services be needed, it will be available at Beu Health Center. The athletic training students will be able to assist with transporting your equipment to the field if needed.

In the unlikely event of an emergency on game day, Leatherneck Athletics and Western Illinois University will activate the Hanson Field Emergency Action Plan.

Dangerous Lightning, Severe Thunderstorms & Tornados:
Should the WIU Athletics Staff determine that the possibility of a dangerous lightning, severe thunderstorms, or tornados exist, they will evacuate Hanson Field according to the facility Emergency Action Plan. The visiting team's emergency contact will be Mason Brock, or designee.

Game Day Management will coordinate the evacuation/shelter of the following:
  1. Visiting Team, Coaches and Staff
  2. Home Team, Coaches and Staff
  3. Game Officials
  4. Spectators
Situations:
  1. Visiting Team is still on the bus at the time of dangerous storms:
    In the event that the Visiting Team is on the team bus, the best course of action would be to remain onboard until given the 'All Clear' by a member of the Leathernecks Athletics Staff to exit to the visiting team locker room located in Western Hall.
  2. Visiting Team is in Western Hall Locker Room:
    Visiting Team should remain in Western Hall Locker Room until given the 'All Clear' by a member of the Leathernecks Athletics Staff to exit to Hanson Field
  3. Visiting Team is inside of Hanson Field:
    Visiting Team, Coaches and Staff should exit the playing field at the northwest corner of the field and proceed to the visiting team locker room in Western Hall.
Delay of Game/Return to Play:
A representative from each team, officials, and game day management will meet at the location of the pregame 100 minute meeting to discuss the course of action should there be a delay of game or return of play.
