Tournament: ANF Fall Classic

Macomb, IL - The Western Illinois Men's Golf team opens the 2026-27 season at the ANF Fall Classic on Tuesday, Sept. 8, through Wednesday, Sept. 9, in Riverside, Iowa. The tournament, hosted by the University of Iowa, marks the first of four fall tournaments for the Leathernecks.

Returning Names

Western Illinois returns four players from last season's squad, including Owen Howe, Easton Korell, Julian Roman Ortiz and Mateo Rascon. Howe enters his junior season after competing in the Leathernecks' lineup last season, while Rascon returns for his senior season. Korell and Ortiz both enter their sophomore seasons after gaining experience during their freshman campaigns.

New Faces

The Leathernecks welcome four newcomers to the 2026-27 roster. Freshmen Yu-Chin Chen, Marius Christensen and Adam Murphy join the program, while the team also adds sophomore D'Arcy Whyte. Chen comes to Western Illinois from Pingtung City, Taiwan, while Christensen, Murphy and Whyte join the Leathernecks for their first seasons on the current roster.

Golf Course

The ANF Fall Classic will be played at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course in Riverside, Iowa. The par-72 course measures more than 7,400 yards and was designed by renowned golf course architect Rees Jones. The 54-hole tournament will feature 36 holes on Tuesday, Sept. 8, followed by the final 18 holes on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Competition

Western Illinois will compete in a 14-team field that includes host Iowa, Western Kentucky, Evansville, Chicago State, Valparaiso, Creighton, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Green Bay, Bradley, South Dakota, Omaha and Eastern Illinois.
