RIVERSIDE, IA – The Western Illinois men's golf team finished sixth at the ANF Fall Classic Wednesday, closing the three-round tournament with a team score of 26-over par.

The Leathernecks finished sixth in the 15-team field, with Iowa claiming the team title at 17-under par. Western Kentucky (-13), South Dakota (-11), North Dakota State (-8) and Omaha (+2) rounded out the top five.

Western Illinois was led individually by Owen Howe, who finished tied for 13th. Howe turned in his best performance of the tournament during the second round, recording seven birdies while shooting six-under par.

Darcy Whyte finished tied for 38th. Whyte saved his strongest round for the third and final round, recording three birdies, two in his final two holes while finishing the round at even par.

Easton Korell finished tied for 42nd after producing his best round in the opening round. Korell carded four birdies and finished three-under par to help the Leathernecks get off to a strong start.

The ANF Fall Classic marked another opportunity for the Leathernecks to compete against a strong field as they continue the fall portion of their schedule. Their next event will be down in Madison, IL at the Dolenc Invite hosted by SIUE September 28th and 29th.
