MACOMB, IL - The Leathernecks Closed out their preseason schedule with a Match against Quincy, losing 3 sets to one.
Although Western was not able to come out on top, the team was able to compete against a tough Quincy opponent in a match where every set played was within 4 points. Western won the first set 25-22, before losing 3 consecutive sets by scores of 25-23, 29-27, and 25-21 respectively.
Leading the charge for the Leathernecks was Kennedy Adair, who had 9 kills, and Hillary Estes, who was able to get 7 kills. Ashlee Markert and Georgia Haynes were both not far behind, each recording 6 kills. Grace Ulatowski had 18 digs for the Leathernecks, with Jaque Adair and Jaleah Bauss both having 11, good enough for second on the team.
This match marked a great opportunity for the Leathernecks to get prepared for the season opening Mizzou invitational, which begins with a game against Missouri on August 28th, at 11AM.
The team was also able to give out autographs to youth volleyball players who were in attendance for the game, giving the Leathernecks a good chance to connect with the community.
