MACOMB, IL - The Leatherneck Volleyball team is kicking off its preseason schedule this Friday at 4pm, with a match against Valparaiso at Western Hall. 

The team is hoping to get off to a good start in the first of two exhibition matches this season, with the second coming against Quincy on Saturday, August 22nd, before opening the regular season schedule against Missouri at the Mizzou Invitational on Friday, August 28th.

This season marks the first for both Head Coach Mari Silva and Assistant Coach Victoria Becerra, with Graduate Assistant Simay Memisoglu being back for her second season in the role.

Coach Mari Silva had a lot to say about the team before the season, one thing she did say was, "We are all very excited to start competing. Our returners have been working really hard since we started together in the Spring, and our newcomers came in this Summer and have already bought into our new culture and the way we want to do things. These first two exhibitions are a great opportunity for us to get those first-game nerves out of the way and evaluate where we are competitively before we face some very tough opponents at Missouri." 

The Leathernecks have only two true freshmen this season and are hoping the team's experience will help propel them to success.This preseason opener will be a huge opportunity for the Leathernecks to build team chemistry, evaluate the roster, and prepare for the challenges of the regular season.
