Western Illinois University Tennis Adds a Pair

Leathernecks add to roster for upcoming season

MACOMB – Western Illinois University tennis coach Luke Ogren announced the addition of a pair of new players to the roster this week.

Joining the Leathernecks this fall are Nour Gueblaoui and Mana Fawcett.

Fawcett joins Western Illinois after prepping at North Cobb High School in Acworth, Georgia.

On the court, Fawcett was a three-time Cobb County All-County Girls Tennis Team Member, a three-time Scholar Athlete, and a Positive Athlete nominee. Her best UTR is 8.03 for singles and 8.11 for doubles. Her best national ranking is 398 while her best International Tennis Federation is 3300.

Off the court, she is a four-time Honor Roll member, an AP Scholar with Distinction, received the AP Capstone Diploma, and the National Honor Society Community Service Chairwoman. She also received the Class of 2024 Georgia Certificate of Merit, is a Georgia International Skills Diploma Seal recipient, and a Georgia Civic Engagement Diploma Seal recipient.

"My journey to Western has been unique but I wouldn't have it any other way, the coaching staff and my teammates have been so welcoming and I am very grateful to be a part of the team," she said.
 
Nour Gueblaoui joins the Leathernecks, transferring from North Carolina A&T.

Originally from Monastir, Tunisia, Gueblaoui earned the Aggie Award at North Carolina A&T. She was an ITF Junior Doubles Winner, a National Champion in singles, winning the Under-16 championships, a two-time national doubles champion, and an Arabic Champion winner in doubles under 14.

Off the court, she was an Honors Society Member and a two-time Dean's List member.

"I chose Western because I see myself having a better experience as an international student-athlete with a safe environment," Gueblaoui said "It's where I want to succeed academically and athletically and present my country the best I could."
