MACOMB, Ill. -- After a successful debut, Western Illinois freshman Chloe Routier received good news last week that she will continue her fall campaign, qualifying to play in the International Tennis Association Conference Masters Championships.
The ITA Conference Masters Championships begins November 7 and runs through November 10. The tournament will be held at Berry College in Mount Berry, Georgia.
The 2024 ITA Conference Masters Championship has a draw size of 32 singles players and 32 doubles teams of each gender. From this, four players qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (semifinalists).
Meanwhile, three doubles teams qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship through the Conference Masters (champion, finalist, third place).
Each NCAA AQ-eligible, Division I conference designated one singles player and one doubles team from each gender to participate in the event. Those players can be selected through a conference tournament to be completed no later than October 27, 2024, or through an alternate selection process determined by the conference office and its members.
Routier earned her spot based on a points system the league adopted that factored in the Spring 2024 and Fall 2024 seasons.
Routier won the No. 3 singles title at the OVC Individual Tournament in September. She also went 3-1 in her other singles matches during the fall.
Routier begins her run on Thursday, playing Fairfield University's Anna Neyestani.
