Bartonville, Ill - The Western Illinois Women's Golf team finished in fourth place at the Coyote Creek Classic shooting 949 (+85). The Leathernecks have now had back-to-back fourth place finishes after being outside of the top ten in their first two tournaments of the season.
Olivia Kerr finished T4 shooting 225 (+9) over the two day tournament. She had six total birdies for the tournament including three birdies in round two. She had the best round of the tournament out of all the golfers with a round 2 score of 72 (E). Kerr was tied for first place heading into day two of the tournament and finished inside the top five for the first time this season while finishing inside the top 20 for the third straight tournament.
Round one was the best round of the tournament for WIU as the team would shoot a 311. Mia Scrimgeour would have two birdies on the front nine to lead the way for WIU as she would shoot a 37 (+1) on the front nine in the first round. Sophia Thorne would add to that front nine score shooting a 36 (E) with a birdie on the ninth hole.
Gabriela Galindo Rubio would have two birdies in round two while Olivia Kerr had three birdies to lead the Leathernecks in the second round. In round three, Sophia Thorne had two birdies while Abby Hunter had one birdie on hole one.
WIU is off for the next couple of weeks before playing in their final tournament of the fall. They will travel to Hattiesburg, MS for The Judson tournament which takes place on Oct. 28 and Oct. 29.
